Ronald McDonald House Celebrates Volunteers at 2026 Volunteer Recognition Dinner

Over 200 gathered for the 2026 Volunteer Recognition Dinner on Thursday, September 24. The Volunteer Recognition Dinner was hosted at The Fox Hollow in Woodbury. Attendees included volunteers, staff, and leadership for an evening of gratitude and celebration.

Honoring Volunteers Across Long Island

The event honored the volunteers who serve families across Ronald McDonald House’s programs. Over 13,000 volunteers contribute to the Ronald McDonald House at New Hyde Park and the Ronald McDonald House Family Rooms at Stony Brook. Volunteers donate their time and talents to prepare meals, bake treats, serve as receptionists, serve families in-hospital with the Ronald McDonald House Hospitality Carts, and so much more.

“Our volunteers are an invaluable part of our operation at the Ronald McDonald House. Their efforts help foster the warm, welcoming environment that we are so very proud of.” said Matt Campo, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Long Island.

Volunteer of the Year and Other Awards

During the program, several awards were given to standout volunteers, including “Most Dynamic Duo,” and “Rookie of the Year.” The coveted Volunteer of the Year Award went to two individuals: Kathy Bishop from Queens, New York and Shelly Psaris from Coram, New York. Each volunteer in attendance also received a Ronald McDonald House Long Island jacket and Certificate of Love as a token of appreciation.

Expanding Opportunities for Volunteers in Suffolk County

The celebration comes as Ronald McDonald House Long Island prepares to open a second House in 2027 next to Stony Brook Children’s, Suffolk County’s only pediatric hospital, a milestone that will create new volunteer opportunities across Long Island.
